AUXNAV/AUXACN is an Auxiliary Advanced Coastal Navigation Specialty course which prepares a member to become a genuine asset to the Flotilla's operations activities. The AUXNAV course covers coastal navigation and embraces two basic concepts - location and direction - and three basic disciplines - dead reckoning, piloting and electronic navigation. This class prepares students to pass a two part examination process: 1) a closed-book, proctored examination (AUXNAV-Part A) which covers the theory behind the three basic forms of navigation; 2) a closed-book, proctored charting examination (AUX-NAV Part B) which is performance-based and requires the candidate to perform actual chart work demonstrating that the student has a sound understanding and firm grasp of basic coastal navigation principles.
At the current time there are no classes scheduled for this course. Check this page often to see if a class has been scheduled for this course.
